Coach Stan Fryczynski – Head Coach, Secaucus Cross Country

Coach Stan Fryczynski has led the Secaucus High School Cross Country program since 1978, establishing one of the most respected running programs in Hudson County and beyond. Over the course of his coaching career, his teams have earned 13 league championships, 3 state sectional titles, and his teams qualified for 49 State Group Championship appearances. His career cross-country coaching record stands at 550-199,
In recognition of his unparalleled dedication and contributions, the Secaucus High School track complex was named in his honor on October 2023 – a testament to his lasting impact on the program and the community.
Coach Fryczynski’s career in coaching began even earlier. In 1971, he founded the Jersey Athletic Club, an AAU team that produced 12 age-group Metropolitan AAU team championships and over 100 individual champions. He also coached at Holy Family Academy and St. Peter’s Prep before arriving at Secaucus, where he additionally served as head coach of the boys and girls indoor and outdoor track & field teams from 1978 to 2011.
Beyond Secaucus, Coach Fryczynski has been a leader in New Jersey athletics. Since 2009, he has served as the Executive Director of the North Jersey Interscholastic Conference (NJIC). He co-founded and served as President of the Hudson County Track Coaches Association, directing countless championship meets and establishing the HCTCA Hall of Fame. He was a Master-level USATF official, working prestigious events like the 1984 World Cross Country Championships and the 1988 Olympic Marathon Trials.
His lifetime of commitment to high school athletics has earned him recognition on local, state, and national levels. He is a proud inductee of:

Coach Fryczynski’s passion for the sport and his commitment to developing young athletes into leaders continue to inspire generations of runners at Secaucus High School.

Kathy Gomez is a 2006 Secaucus High School alum who was a successful three sport varsity athlete in cross country, indoor, and outdoor track & field for the Patriots. Her valuable experience later gained in her participation in an array of competition-distance road races and marathon events has proven to be invaluable to our present-day athletes. She will be entering her thirteenth year on the SHS coaching staff this fall. We are all grateful for her vast knowledge of diet, stretching, core training, and individual preparation for distance runners. Without question, Coach Gomez has become a staple of the Secaucus Cross-Country tradition of excellence.
