We are proud to announce that on Tuesday, August 25, a distinguished alumnus of Secaucus High School, and of our cross country program, will address the team prior to the start of our 2026 season!
Ryan Shea
Ryan Shea graduated from Secaucus High School in 2008. He was a member of the 2005 State Sectional Championship and 2006 BCSL National Division Championship teams. Ryan was selected 1st Team All-BCSL for the 2006 and 2007 Cross Country seasons. In 2007, he was the individual League Champion while leading the Patriots to their second consecutive BCSL team championship, and a third-place finish in the State Sectionals. While he may have had many high school athletic honors, he was even further recognized for his academic achievements.
*He was the Class Valedictorian.
*News 12 New Jersey awarded him their annual $1,000 scholar-athlete of the year award.
*He was the top scorer in the entire state for the New Jersey Math League
*He attained a perfect 800 score on the Math and Chemistry SAT’s
Ryan continued his studies at Princeton University. He was the President of the Princeton Entrepreneurship Club. Twice under his leadership, the club was awarded the Alberto Santos-Dumont Prize for Innovation.
He graduated from Princeton University with degrees in Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering. He also had minors in Computer Science and Robotics. While in college and shortly after, he was an engineer at Zoc Doc. He also worked for Omni Active Health Technologies.
At age 24, Ryan was inducted into the “Forbes 30 Under 30” for Consumer Technology in 2015. By then, he had authored several popular open-source cryptographies and blockchain libraries. Ryan was a co-founder and CEO of Stacks, a layer-2 blockchain platform that extends Bitcoin’s functionality by enabling smart contracts and decentralized applications. He also was co-founder of OneName, an early blockchain identity system and passport.
In 2019, he returned to the world of healthcare and biotech. He shadowed researchers and contributed programming expertise at Stanford, Harvard, and MIT. He also started his second company in the crypto space and engaged in deep research into the fields of biotech and Artificial Intelligence (AI).
In 2025, Ryan worked as a Senior Advisor for Health and Human Services and the Food and Drug Administration. His work at the FDA led to the development of a system of Real-Time Clinical Trials which was announced in April 2026. This year Ryan launched two projects in the world of AI – Autofoundry and AI IQ.
During Ryan’s sophmore year he was a member of the very first Secaucus HS boys State Sectional Championship team in 2005. In this picture, he is shown kneeling (holding his race bib#1088).
